Loserman

“Kiss my sorry ass goodbye, Congress!”

Do you smell that? It’s the unmistakable scent of Joe Lieberman’s feckless, centrist corpse decomposing in the Connecticut summer sun.

Just six years after the moldy Senator, along with his running mate, the newly repackaged Al Gore, capitulated his way into a curious 2000 election “loss” (don’t get me started on that) the good people of the Nutmeg State decided not to prop him up for a fourth term.

Not altogether stunning, really, when you consider that Lieberman has done nothing but placate both big business and the Bush administration over the course of the last six years and counting. You know you’re treading on thin ice when you're a Fox News regular. But he rang his own death knell with his ingratiating support of Bush’s War. His “stay the course” rhetoric increasingly distanced him from his constituency and his country, culminating (finally!) in his ouster at the hands of fellow Democrat Ned Lamont.

Ironically, Lieberman plans to run as an independent, vowing not to give up without a fight. Too bad he didn’t show the same resolve when he and Gore had a national presidential election stolen from them via the disfranchisement of African-American Floridians.

I can't help but think that the Dems won't even take the hint regarding Lieberman's loss. They'll probably still continue their march to the right and away from the working people of this country.

I have no idea who the Dems are thinking about running in '08 - please let it not be H. Clinton. But if they don't take this opportunity to reclaim the White House seriously.. I may turn republican. Okay... I won't turn republican, but I'll be mighty pissed off. I just get a sense the Dems are going to fuck this up.... yet again.

Dr. D I totally agree with you they will fuck things up, yet again. I have always prided myself as being a Democrat but now I don't have much pride @ all. I have yet to hear any other names but Hilary's and Guliani's name has now all but officially been thrown in for the Republican's "safe bet." To me that is sad because all he'll use in his platform are 9/11 and that he supports Bush's war format. Lest we forget that he cheated on his wife and get paid gazillions to fly all over and bring up people's memories of 9/11, so basically both parties are screwed in '08, any suggestions?

My question about Lieberman is how do Jewish people feel? They were messed over in Florida too. I know all those Jews didn't vote for Pat Buchanan. On that principle alone he should have not been kissing Bush's ass. It's about time the democrats start drawin a fine line between themselves and the other side. Maybe I will start to not look at them as the same party with a different animal on the logo.

I don't normally think politics in the U.S. is very meaningful anymore since most politicians are way, way more similar than different. But I had to smile when Lieberman hit the dust. On the other hand, it was a close race. Who the f*ck still voted for this guy?!?
